The Little Things

The past updates of my blog have been weekly, but now that I have settled into a routine. The routine is boring to write about. I am just going to talk about the highlights of the week.

My favorite thing to get now is packages from the U.S. I have ordered a few things from Target and they have arrived within 7 to 10 days. It makes going to the Post Office on base worth it! It also allows me to check our box. I have been ordering a few things from U.S. Amazon and those packages go to base as well. I ordered some taco seasoning because who doesn’t love tacos?! I have been eating tacos at least once or twice a week. Having bulk taco seasoning makes sense!

On Friday, I hang out with Abby and her boys. They are the cutest! Our weekly trips involve McDonald’s and grocery shopping. It gives Abby time to talk to an adult and gives me a human to talk to. Talking to the cats makes me sound crazy but they do talk back. It is usually about food but at least its better than nothing.

I usually walk to the Ginza at least twice a week now. It is a nice quiet stroll and gets me out of the apartment. I love being immersed within the culture here. The grocery store is an experience within itself. The carts are different. The set up is the same. You have no idea what anything says, because its in Japanese (of course). There is English on some packaging. Google Translate is your best friend at the store.

I entered to be able to reserve a PS5 at the NEX. I missed being able to pre-order it when all the retailers decided to start pre-orders early in the U.S. The NEX had a drawing for the PS5. I entered and they picked my name. I was able to reserve a PS5 for Doug. YAY!

I got some donuts from Mister Donut this week. I love the Strawberry Pon de Ring. It has a chewy texture and Gigi always wants a bite! Gigi has good taste in food. If she chooses not to eat it, then I know its not good. I love the Halloween Donuts Mister Donut has. Halloween is not a big deal in Sasebo. They have some Halloween Decorations and some Halloween Candy.
